19 Jan, 2008

Hundreds of working women have protested the killing of innocent citizens in Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi in a series of terror attacks and the rising prices and the increasing unemployment because of severe power and gas cuts forcing the closure of industries.
The Women Wing of the Pakistan Workers Federation held the protest on Friday leaving the Bakhtiar Labour Hall for Nisbat Road and onwards. Protestors were carrying banners and chanting slogans demanding that the government take immediate measures to save the poor and that implement labour laws and stop exploiting employees of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited and banks. They also condoled for the late Benazir Bhutto and other victims of the recent terror attacks in various cities.
