Gas blast in bank basement kills guard

The gas explosion in the basement of a bank at Murree Road resulted in death of a security guard injuring two others, besides causing heavy damages to the building.
According to details, gas leakage in the basement of Soneri Bank branch at Chandni Chowk, Murree Road, caused huge explosion at about 7:50 am on Saturday. Security guard Aurnagzeb of Chak Beli Khan died on the spot as soon as he struck the match to lit the heater, while other security guard, Niaz Ali of Mardan, received burn injuries.
Asad Ali, a bike-rider, who was on his way to Saddar, also received injuries due to explosion. Rescue 1122 reached on the spot and extinguished the fire and shifted the dead and wounded persons to the hospital. New Town Police station has registered a case.
