The government launched a three-day countrywide "Polio Immunisation" campaign on Tuesday to vaccinate over 32 million children. Children below the age of five will be administered anti-polio drops during the door-to-door campaign, a private TV reported.
About 86,000 teams have been constituted to run the campaign, it was said in a function in connection with the anti-polio campaign in Islamabad, the report said. The federal and the four provincial governments are making all out efforts for the eradication of polio from the country.
Since the launch of mass vaccination campaign, polio cases have been reduced significantly and last year only 31 cases were detected. The financial assistance of foreign partners, Pakistan would soon achieve the status of a polio-free country.
