Contempt of court notice served on Shahbaz Sharif

23 Jan, 2008

An anti terrorist court has issued contempt of court notice to Mian Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif, president Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) for giving wrong information to the court here on Tuesday.
ATC Judge Shabbir Hussain Chattha issued the notice after receiving an application of contempt of court by the appellant of Sabzazar police encounter case, Saeed-ud-din, arguing that Shahbaz Sharif had submitted a medical certificate for exemption of appearing before the court due to backache.
The appellant in his application observed that Mian Shahbaz Sharif after submitting the said certificate on January 12, had left for Islamabad the same day and met with some foreign diplomats, which showed that he tried to deceive the court by giving false information in the medical certificate. He requested the court to take action against Shahbaz Sharif under the contempt of court act.
Earlier, Imtiaz Ahmad Kaifi again submitted a medical certificate issued from a hospital of England in which Shahbaz Sharif refused to appear before the court due to his 'illness'. The Court issued contempt of court notice to Mian Shahbaz Sharif and adjourned the Sabzazar police encounter case till January 29.
