'PML-Q most popular among masses'

23 Jan, 2008

PML-Q is the most trusted and popular party among the masses due its performance of the past five years in government, and its pro-poor policies, said former member of National Assembly (MNA) Ahmad Raza Maneka, party candidate from NA-165.
He said the PML-Q had won all three NA and five PA seats in the district in the last elections, and this time the party had issued all three NA tickets to former MNAs, but had changed the candidates and tickets of three PA seats in the district.
Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday about the uplift effected by him and his party during the last five years, he said that natural gas was provided at a cost of Rs 420 million to Pakpattan city... Electricity was provided to 177 villages at a cost of Rs one billion.
While hospitals, more farm to market roads, ring road and a new railway gate had also been completed. A bridge linking Pakpattan and Minchinabad (Bahawalnagar) over river Sutluj worth over Rs one billion was under construction, he added.
"If I win in the February 18 elections, I will work for further development in my area, and ensure several new projects like a dual carriageway on the road from Bridge Rakh to the mausoleum of Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Masood Ganj Shakar. A Youth Hostel in the city which will also come in use for the saint's devotees during the Urs days. More roads, schools and colleges will be established in the area," he asserted.
"Another matter close to my heart is provision of employment to the local people," he said, adding that he expected the envisaged uplift projects to provide jobs to a thousand people.
While that remains to be seen, what is certain at the moment is that after the recent reconciliation between both groups of the Maneka family, the position of Ahmad Raza Maneka has further consolidated as a strong PML-Q candidate from NA-165.
