Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) retail price in the provincial capital has come down between Rs 65-75 per kilogram from all-time high of Rs 140-150 per kilogram a few days ago, claimed the LPG Association of Pakistan (LPGAP) here on Wednesday.
"The situation has improved tremendously, thanks to the joint efforts of the government, marketing companies, distributors and consumers, but a lot remains to be achieved." said LPGAP spokesman Fasih Ahmed.
He said the LPGAP was continuing its efforts to bring down LPG retail prices in Lahore to Rs 65 per kilogram. Ahmed said that the total number of LPG retail selling points had increased to 78 with more being added every day. "Our efforts and public awareness campaign are geared towards eliminating all opportunities for profiteers," he said.
He said that in Wednesday's meeting between the representatives of various LPG marketing companies and District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Mian Ijaz, it was agreed that while some success had been achieved, more work was yet required.
"The DCO was appreciative of the coordination between the government and other stakeholders and has directed everyone to ensure prices come down further," he said.
"The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) is closely monitoring the situation," he said. "The demand-supply situation had been grossly overstated by those who were black marketing product," said Ahmed, adding that "Lahore is awash with product right now and we expect the retail prices will come down to rational levels within days," he said.
