26 Jan, 2008

Provincial Minister for Communication, Works and Information Technology, Mubashar Lucman has said that in order to overcome the electricity crisis construction of new water reservoirs including Kalabagh Dam is necessary and all major political parties of the country have already agreed in principle in this regard.
Talking to newsmen here on Friday, he said that every citizen of the country should play its due role for the solution of collective problems by making individual efforts.
He said that the main aim of caretaker government was to provide conducive atmosphere for elections and the present government was discharging its obligation by remaining impartial.
Lucman urged upon the voters to play their due role for making elections credible. Every voter can take part in the process of accountability through his vote, he added.
He said that accountability process should continue on permanent basis in the country and accountability of caretaker government should also be made after February 18.
Although the caretaker government should run only day to day affairs yet it can identify the problems and make recommendations for policy decisions, he said.
Answering a question, Lucman said, "misuse of power creates problems". Despite the fact that a large number of federal and provincial Ministers including President belonged to Northern Punjab, the area was still backward and politicians should accept the responsibility.
He said that political parties should hold APC for solution of important issues like unemployment, poverty, and inflation besides introducing democracy in their ranks.
Lucman said that political parties work for toppling the government mostly and they work only 10 percent according to their manifesto. Replying to a question, he said that he was proud of being attached to media and after February 18, he would again join to his fraternity.
