SME zone, labour colony to be set up near Multan

The Punjab government has sanctioned projects of small and medium enterprises zone and a labour colony near here, and these would be executed simultaneously very soon, said provincial minister for industries Khwaja Muhammad Jalaluddin Roomi while talking to newsmen here on Friday.
He said that the proposed industrial zone would be developed on 34 acres land while the labour colony would be constructed on 50 acres where hospital, recreational park, schools, college and shopping centres would also be available to the working classes. The government has issued necessary instructions to the Industrial Estate Board of Management and asked the Labour and Industries departments to ensure execution of these projects.
The Minister said that the government was determined to provide civic amenities, residential, educational and medical facilities to the industrial workers and their families.
Roomi said that the government would ensure soft loans to SMEs through Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC), besides advancing loans through financial institutions and banks. He said that clusters would be developed in industrial estates for women entrepreneurs besides granting subsidy in mark-up for establishment of industry and expanding their business. At a meeting of women entrepreneurs at Multan Chamber of Commerce, he said that the facility of loans would be extended to women entrepreneurs and all banks and financial institutions would be asked to provide loans to them.
Mughis Ahmed Shaikh, Afshan Gilani, Rabia Gilani, Hina Naqvi, Rashid Begum, Sehrish, Afshan Mansoor, Sabiha, Fatima Kanwal, Sabeen, Rubab, Nasim Akhtar Abida and Ms Ilyas were also present.
