26 Jan, 2008

The Hub Power Company (Hubco) is holding a free eye clinic at Jam Ghulam Qadir Hospital Hub Chowki to facilitate eye examination and eye surgery from January 22 to 26, 2008. As per previous practice, the eye clinic will be conducted by the Al Ibrahim Eye Hospital and several hundred people from Hub and surrounding areas in Balochistan are expected to benefit.
The highlight of this particular eye clinic is the use of high-tech equipment for complete surgery, donated recently by Hubco to Al Ibrahim Eye Hospital. The equipment includes operating microscope (Takagi OM-5), A-Scan, Autoclave and Autokeratometer. In this free eye clinic, after the examination of patients and their treatment free medicines are also being provided, all under the supervision of expert doctors.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the eye clinic, Javed Mahmood, the Chief Executive of Hubco said: "The welfare of the local communities and especially their health has always been of concern to Hubco. It is now several years since the first eye clinic was organised and every year the scope and extent of our eye clinics has increased. We are very conscious of our corporate social responsibility and we will continue to extend all possible support to the people of this area in the times to come."
To facilitate the local people, especially from the far-flung areas to reach the eye clinic, Hubco, through International Power Global Developments (IPGD) has also organised for free transportation facility to bring the patients to the eye clinic and to take them back to their homes. The local administration too has extended full support and co-operation as in the past to make the eye clinic a success.-PR
