Federal government under Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) has provided more than Rs 6.50 billion to Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan for the social welfare of industrial workers and for the construction of labour complexes in their respective provinces.
Official sources told Business Recorder here on Saturday that land was being purchased for the construction of new labour complexes in all four Provinces and work on this programme would soon be carried out. Besides, the government has already increased the pension and wages of the industrial workers of the country.
According to the sources the government has already taken revolutionary steps for provision of free education to the children's of the industrial workers and government will also bear their expenses of higher education besides scholarship would also be provided to the outstanding students.
They said that government was ensuring the policy of promoting dialogue with the stakeholders, the trade unions and the employers' organisations for resolving labour related issues in the country. The objectives of these efforts were to develop cordial relationship between employees and employers for further enhancing the productivity and to keep the economic wheel in full motion in the country.
