Wapda workers rally against price hike

Hundreds of Water and Power Development Authority Electricity Union workers staged a protest rally on Saturday outside the Bakthiar Labour Hall against the rising prices and condemned the government for failing to crack on hoarders and profiteers.
The workers marched from Nisbat Road to various roads where they held a rally at the Luxmi Chowk. Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Union General Secretary Khurshid Ahmed, accompanied by office-bearers, led the protest.
Workers also urged the power authority and Pepco to accept their demands put up by the union through the Charter of Demand and set up new powerhouses and to pay pending amount of Rs 200 billion by the government to provide cheaper electricity.
Union members Syed Zahid Shah, Malik Noor Muhammad, Osama Tariq, Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah, Haji Sharif Pehlwan, Chaudry Ghafoor Ahmed and Chaudry Noor Muhammad also joined the protest.
