NWFP Chief Minister Shams-ul-Mulk has underlined the need for understanding the role of individuals in the society, and stressed upon preserving the social norms and putting a stop to its gradual erosion.
"If we understand the role of individuals, and of the society, we will be definitely in a position to mitigate the sufferings of the hapless people", he said.
He was addressing a prize distribution ceremony arranged by Al-Khidmat Trust (Women) in collaboration with Tanzeem Lilsail-e-Walmahroom, NWFP, at Chief Minister House here on Saturday. Provincial Ministers, Administrative Secretaries, Tanzeem Lilsail-e-Walmahroom Chairman Abdullah and members of the Al-Khadmat Trust Peshawar were also present on the occasion.
Shams said that people should not overlook their role what he called the comprehension and fulfilling of social responsibilities in the given environment. He said that there was a mess, and the society, as a whole, was in utter state of disarray.
Therefore, the need emanating from the present situation is to find out an "out of the box" solution for preserving values. "If we find out ways and means and curtail unnecessary bottlenecks to put the social welfare activities on sound footing, it would definitely be a realistic start to share the burden of social responsibility in the given situation" he said.
"Still we can not ignore the ground reality that the social responsibility can be efficiently fulfilled if the masses at all levels are woven in the process," he observed.
He said: "If we expect the government to undertake social welfare it will be of a little effect, and we will end up with no tangible result". The Chief Minister said: "We have our Prophet (PBUH) as a role model, and we must follow what he enjoined upon the Muslims to be sincere to other fellow Muslims, and seek the welfare of the entire mankind."
He asked those who gained skill to spread their skill to others so that it becomes an unstoppable cycle of virtues to others in the society. He expressed hope that those who got skill would use their skill as a source of earning livelihood. Tanzeem Lilsail-e-Walmahroom Chairman Abdullah and Project Director of the Tanzeem Shah Rukh Arbab also highlighted the working of the organisation.
