Operation aims to rid people of miscreants: ISPR DG

The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Athar Abbas, on Saturday said that the operation launched in Darra Adamkhel and South Wazristan Agency was aimed to rid the local people of the miscreants.
Talking to PTV here he said that the operation against miscreants in Darra Adamkhel was stopped on Friday night at the request of Political Agent and Jirga to settle the issue through negotiations, but it was started again on Saturday.
He said that the miscreants refused to hold talks, and attacked a Frontier Corps check-post on Saturday morning. The militants blocked Kohat Tunnel, while FC was retaliating to open the blocked tunnel and Indus Highway, he added.
He said that action was being taken against bunkers of miscreants located in the area of Spin Thana and surroundings of Kohat Tunnel.
He said that in South Wazristan Agency operation was being carried out against militants in the areas of Laddah, Spin Kai, Raghzai, Nawabkot and Tiarzah. A large number of weapons and huge quantity of ammunition were recovered from the area, which have been cleared of the militants, the General said.
