Lee helps Middlesbrough avoid an upset

Lee Dong-Gook helped Middlesbrough into the FA Cup fifth round as the South Korean's second goal of the season set up a 2-0 win against League Two Mansfield on Saturday. Lee, 28, has struggled to make an impact since his move to Middlesbrough but his first half goal ensured there was no upset in the fourth round at Field Mill.
Mansfield are three divisions below Middlesbrough but they gave a good account of themselves before Jake Buxton's late own goal booked a place in the last 16 for Gareth Southgate's side.
The hosts were in the fourth round for the first time in 20 years and they came under heavy pressure in the early stages. Middlesbrough captain Julio Arca nearly opened the scoring on 11 minutes when he twisted past three defenders and shot just wide.
They didn't have to wait long for the breakthrough. In the 17th minute, Adam Johnson curled in a corner that Carl Muggleton should have dealt with. But the Mansfield keeper's weak punch fell to David Wheater and his shot was deflected to Lee, who lashed in from close range.
