Precautionary steps may help prevent attack of asthma

Proper treatment, immediate cares, precautionary measures and special training for asthma management can prevent the recurrent attack of asthma, said Professor Dr Laiq Hussain Siddiqui, Principal of Nishtar Medical College Multan while talking to this correspondent on phone.
"We have been receiving patients of pneumonia, chest infection and asthama in emergency mostly minors and a number of them have died," Health authorities have confirmed the cold-related deaths in Muzaffargarh, Vehari, Okara, Jhang, Rahimyarkhan, Yazman, Bahawalpur.
At least 16 persons have so far been died in Southern Punjab during last four days due to severe cold while increase in cases of asthma and other respiratory diseases has been reported in recent few days due to the extreme cold weather.
A free medical camp was also organised for counselling and treatment of asthma patients in Bahawalpur and Multan.
Pof Laiq Hussain said that this activity was done to provide awareness to the public about asthma and other seasonal respiratory diseases. He said asthma is due to the increase in the sensitivity of the respiratory tract and cold weather can trigger it. Anyone, having the symptoms of difficulty in breathing, dry cough, and wheezing, should get him examined to avoid disease.
