Report sought on occupied railways land

Caretaker Minister for Railways, Mansoor Tariq has directed all the Divisional Superintendents of Pakistan Railways to submit report on railways' land, which is illegally occupied across the country.
Talking to APP, the minister said that the Divisional Superintendent had been directed to submit the report on Monday. He also directed the Railways police to recover railway land within one month with the help of local administration.
He said that so far upto 60 percent of the encroached land has been reclaimed and the rest would soon be retrieved.
Pakistan Railways regained 100 acres of its land illegally occupied along rail tracks and inside the cities across the country, he said.
He said that in Peshawar a railway team that retrieved encroached land, was in addition to the 100 acres recovered elsewhere in the country. Tariq said: "In Peshawar we reclaimed land worth Rs500 million along the railway tracks and other areas in the city".
