Caretaker Federal Minister for Food, Agriculture and Livestock (Minfal), Prince Muhammad Isa Jan Baloch has said that Pakistan attaches top most priority to facilitate foreign investment in every field, especially in the agriculture sector.
Talking to a United Arab Emirates (UAE) delegation headed by Engineer Laith A. Mohammad of Al Dahra Agriculture Company the minister said there was a great scope for investment in the agriculture, particularly in manufacturing of bulldozer, tractor and agriculture machinery in Pakistan.
Investment in fruit and vegetable processing plants is also required to be installed in Pakistan, he added. Prince Isa Jan informed the delegation about mega projects for the development of livestock sector all over the country, including AJK and said there was high demand of Pakistani fruits and vegetables from Arab and other countries.
The delegation informed the minister that their company had acquired 3,300 acres of land near Mirani Dam, Balochistan for growing Alfalfah for animal fodder. The fodder would be exported to UAE. The delegation showed their interest to install fodder plant in the area, which would provide job opportunity to about 500 people.
The delegation also apprised the minister about their problems regarding water, road and electricity and said that further 200 acres of land would be required for the purpose. The minister assured his full co-operation in this respect. Besides Secretary Minfal Zia ur Rehman and Additional Secretary Muhammad Salim Jhagra other high officials of the ministry were also present during the meeting.
