Government to ensure provision of necessary facilities at ports: Prime Minister

Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro on Monday said the caretaker government would ensure provision of necessary facilities at the ports so as to promote trade and exports of the country. He was talking to Dr Fahim Ansari Minister for Ports and Shipping who called on him here at the PM Secretariat.
The Prime Minister said that caretaker set-up would continue its efforts to upgrade and modernise the facilities at ports to facilitate the exporters and business community.
He said that all measures would be taken to enhance trade and business activities in the country and better port facilities are essential to achieve this objective. The Prime Minister said the government is also actively pursuing the policy to build road network across the country. Soomro said the ongoing road network project which links Gwadar deep sea port to the rest of the country will further enhance the trade volume of the country.
He further said that the linking of Gwadar through road network would cater to the trade and business needs of Pakistan and its neighbouring countries as well. The Minister for Ports and Shipping updated the Prime Minister about various initiatives taken by the ministry to improve the working of port authorities to minimise the processing time of shipments. He said that completion of ongoing projects will enhance the trade volume and bring marked improvement in the lives of people.
