Karachiites have urged the administration to fix the price of 'Nan' at Rs three per piece as has been done in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The Tandoor owners in Karachi continue to sell 'Nan' at the increased rates on the pleas that they are not getting Atta at the fixed price and have to buy from the open market where the rate per kilogram of atta is too high, compared to the government fixed price.
However, consumers maintain that the Tandoor operators in the city must be curbed and must bring down the price of Nan to its previous level of Rs three along with the size and weight. Consumers have also urged that quality control should also be introduced in the case of Nan so that low quality atta meant for animal feed is not mixed with regular quality Atta.
They have urged upon the government to also ensure that the Tandoors in Karachi do not use rubber scrap for the fire in their Tandoors since it is very injurious to human health.
