Apropos a news item carried by Business Recorder on Wednesday, the Trading Corporation of Pakistan has clarified: "The news article is not based on facts as such it is clarified that necessary laboratory tests are conducted from time to time.
The recent tests also confirm that balance shiploads of existing stocks of imported sugar available in TCP godowns do not contain sulphur contents beyond the approved limits. Such necessary reports along with lab test reports are also sent to concerned/relevant agencies.
"The receivers of sugar usually take delivery of stocks after inspection and checking of the sugar. No such type of complaint that TCP''s sugar is poisonous was ever received from any agency till to date.
"So far as reported FFC ban on disposal of balance stocks of 100,000 MT lying with TCP as reported in your newspaper is also incorrect as no such directives/decisions are there as already intimated to newspaper''s correspondent as reported in your aforementioned article," the clarification concluded.
