Three alleged dacoits held after shoot out

The police have claimed to arrest three dacoits after an hour-long shootout in the jurisdiction of Zaman Town police station here on Saturday. Police sources told Business Recorder that the arrested accused were involved in several robberies including mobile and vehicle snatching, while several cases were registered against them in different police stations.
Police said that the accused killed one, Wajid Ali, on a resistance during a mobile snatching bid on January 28. One of deceased relative, who was present when Wajid was killed, informed police that dacoits involved in killing of Wajid were present in Sector 51-C.
Taking prompt action a police party rushed to the spot, where the accused opened firing on police van which was retaliated. After an hour-long shootout police arrested three dacoits-Nadeem Qasoor , Mussanif Abbas and Abdur Rehman. Nadeem sustained bullet wound during the shoot out, they added.
Police said that during initial investigation the accused revealed the names of their three accomplices, who were also involved in street crimes. Police has registered FIR (34/08) against the accused. In another incident, the areas of Orangi town and Banaras echoed with aerial firing during the funeral of Samad Afridi, an activist of Paktoon Student Federation (PSF) who was killed by unknown assailant on Friday.
