Federal Minister for Culture Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan Jogezai has stressed the need for exploiting rich marble resources for country's socio economic development.
During a visit to the office of Chairman All Pakistan Marble Association (APMA) here, the minister said that Allah Almighty has bestowed Pakistan with rich natural resources including marble and granite and if exploited to its true potential, Pakistan's economy can be sustained and strengthened to maximum level for the benefit of people.
Jogezai who himself is associated with marble business and member of Board of Directors of Pakistan Stone Development Company (Pasdec) also attended the meeting of the association and gave a patient hearing to the problems of the members with regard to marble industry. The minister said that government is taking keen interest in the marble mining and processing sector for the development of the sector and socio-economic development of the country.
The minister for culture assured the Chairman that he would take up the matter to the higher authorities for the allotment of land for APMA office here in Islamabad.
