Nazims and Naib Nazims protest against police excesses

Nazims, Naib Nazims and members of Union Councils of Faisalabad District took out a protest procession against police torture and blocked the roads for two hours. Meanwhile, City District Assembly has wound up its session as a mark of protest. City District Nazim, Rana Zahif Tauseef led the procession up to police offices.
Protestors also shouting slogans against excesses of police and alleged that some black sheep are creating lawlessness just to gain their nefarious designs Taking serious notice of protest, Additional Inspector General Police, Talat Mehmood Tariq, has suspended SHO Police Station Mamun Kanjan Ghulam Mustaffa with immediate effect and constituted a two-member enquiry committee comprising SP, Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmad and Naib Nazim, City District Government, Mian Amjad Yasin.
According to details, Zahoor Ahmad Advocate, Nazim, Union Council No 93 was going to home from District Court in his car, when reached near Chak 552-GB some armed men had blocked the road and snatched cash of Rs 23,400 and mobiles etc from them.
When villagers agitated on this incident, Mamun Kanjan Police resorted to lathi charge on them. Zahoor Ahmad Advocate, Nazim, Union Council No 93 was taken into custody, who was severely beaten and tortured by the Inspector/SHO and other policemen for six hours.
During meeting with the police officers, members of City District Government expressed their resentment over the law and order situation. The meeting observed that it was the primary responsibility of the police and administration to plug all gaps to nip and control all such incidents.
City District Nazim, Rana Zahid Tauseef, directed police authorities to take all precautionary measures to avert the untoward incidents, so as to create a sense of security among all. The attitude of the police must be friendly, he added.
