Election Commission sets up live RRCs

Election Commission (EC) has set up live Result Receiving Centres (RRCs), two for Punjab and one each for other provinces that would pass results immediately to media after receiving from Returning Officer by telephone and telefax.
Official said that these RRC's will be set up in the Main Control Room where each team, headed a joint secretary, will work for the announcement of all the results. Team incharge will be responsible for receiving results on telephone and telefax who would pass it on to the incharge control room after tallying it, who will release it to print and electronic media.
As soon as the polling is closed, the Presiding Officer will start counting votes at the polling stations in the presence of election/polling agents or observers. He will follow the procedure laid down in Section 38 of the people representative rules 23, 24 & 25 of the conduct of elections. He will make duplicate copies of the statement of the vote count on the official form as well as statement of ballot paper get signatures of polling agents thereon and provide copies to the polling agents.
The PO will also display statement of count, result, outside the polling station for information of general public. He will seal it and arrange to send it to the Returning Officer by the quickest possible means. The Returning Officer on receipt of statements of the count from the Presiding Officers shall sum-up the total for the constituency in the presence of candidates, their.
He will obtain signatures of candidates or their election agents on the preliminary result prepared by him and supply a copy to them. He shall then announce preliminary result of a constituency locally and affix a copy thereof outside his office for information of general public.
The Returning Officer shall convey the preliminary result to Election Commission Secretariat, Islamabad over telephone and shall confirm it through telefax, as per result tally sheets. The Provincial Election Commissioners shall ensure that telefax and telephone facilities are available with all ROs under their jurisdiction.
