A seminar on "Capital Market and its Impact on the Pakistan's Economy" was organised at the University of Karachi here on Wednesday. Ali Alvi of the AKD Investments was the guest speaker of the event and his lecture on the topic was attended by the faculty members and students of the university.
He was accompanied by a team of professionals from AKD Investments and financial analysts from the Financial Daily (TFD). Qazi Waqas Ahmed from TFD highlighted the importance of capital market in boosting Pakistan's economy. He explained the virtual concept of trading called " Mock Trading", which was introduced in Pakistan for the first time by TFD.
Alvi, while addressing the wide audience, stressed the vitality of mutual funds and their scope in the capital market. He apprised the participants of the broader prospects of investments in the capital market. Dr Shafiq-ur-Rehman, Chairperson of the Department of Economics, University of Karachi, congratulated the organising committee on their efficient efforts and encouraged the students to actively take part in the upcoming economic seminars.
It was pointed out that the Department of Economics is one of the most active departments in the university, which aims to promote awareness of major economic issues, collaborating with distinguished economists, entrepreneurs and business through conducting informative sessions and seminars.
