Patwari nabbed for taking bribe

Anti-Corruption Establishment Punjab has arrested a Patwari of Halqa Gujrat city, Tehsil and district Gujrat, while taking Rs 5,000 as illegal gratification, and sent him to jail on judicial remand. Nabi Ahmad, a resident of Gujrat, lodged a complaint with the Deputy Director Anti-Corruption Investigation Gujrat against accused Syed Sajid Ali Shah.
Stating that he wanted to get transferred his inherited agricultural land, but the Patwari was demanding Rs 5,000 bribe to transfer ownership rights of the land in his favour.
The Anti-Corruption official decided to arrest the accused red handed, so ACE Circle Officer Gujrat Muhammad Shahid conducted a trap raid under the supervision of Civil Judge Gujrat Malik Tariq Zia, according to a handout.
The raiding team arrested the accused red handed when he was receiving the bribe from the complainant. A case has been registered against the Patwari after recovering the amount from him and he was sent to jail on judicial remand.
