Pral employees may be regularised soon

13 Feb, 2008

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is likely to take up regularisation of several hundred employees working on contract basis, with the Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (Pral).
Sources told Business Recorder on Tuesday that a large number of low-grade officers have been working for the last many years and their contracts are renewed every year with negligible increase in their salaries without proper increment keeping in view the sky-rocketing prices of essential necessities of life.
Recently, Pral appointed some IT experts on regular basis, ignoring those already working for the last 10 years. Taking into account the problems of these contract employees, the FBR may approach the Pral management for regularization of their services with all the fringe monetary and service benefits.
The board had provided sufficient budget to Pral for carrying out day-to-day operations and making appointments on lucrative salaries. If the department regularises the daily wages employees, it would not have serious revenue implications, sources added. These employees have also requested FBR Member (Admin) Major General Muhammad Yasin (retd) to consider their case on humanitarian grounds.
