A delegation of Beijing Olympics headed by Jiang Xiaoyu, Executive Deputy President (Vice Minister) called on President Pervez Musharraf here Thursday and discussed about the event of Olympic Torch Relay to be held in Islamabad on April 16.
President Musharraf expressed satisfaction over Islamabad being chosen for Olympic torch relay for first time in the history. Jiang Xiaoyu apprised the President that 29th Olympic Games are being held in Beijing from 8-24 August, while the Beijing Olympic Torch Relay will be commencing from March 31. It will travel through 22 cities around the world including Islamabad on April 16. Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) in collaboration with the government of Pakistan will organise the relay.
