17 Feb, 2008

At least five people were injured after scores of APDM workers scuffled and pelted stones at security forces here Saturday, CCPO Quetta Muhammad Akbar told APP on telephone. According to reports, a large number of ADPM workers gathered at Manan Chowk to hold a public meeting to 'encourage people' to boycott forthcoming general election.
"The police party warned APDM leaders to disperse but they started pelting stones at the police and resorted to violence", CCPO said adding that the police used tear gas to contain the violent APDM workers. In the meantime, the violent mob set on fire a police mobile van and broke the windscreens of about half a dozen private vehicles. Police also arrested about 20 APDM workers and increased patrolling in the city.
