Two killed, eight injured in suicide attack in Swat

A suicide bomber rammed a car into a checkpost outside an army media centre in Sawat, killing two civilians and wounding eight people, the army said. The attack happened in Saidu Sharif, main town of Swat, where troops have been fighting militants since last year, army spokesman Major General Athar Abbas told AFP.
"This was a vehicle-borne suicide attack at one of the checkposts near the media centre in Saidu Sharif. The blast killed two civilian pedestrians and injured eight people including two security people," Abbas said. The blast came hours after another car bomber struck an election rally in a troubled tribal area bordering Afghanistan, killing at least 37 people.
The blast happened hours after a suicide bomber killed at least 37 people at an opposition political rally in Parachinar, troubled tribal area bordering Afghanistan, just two days before crucial elections.
