Arrangements finalised for peaceful elections: Soomro

Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro on Saturday said the government had finalised all possible arrangements for ensuring peaceful atmosphere during general elections across the country.
Talking to Governor Balochistan former justice Amanullah Khan Yaseenzai here, the Prime Minister said masses should be given a sense of security through practical steps in order to ensure maximum turnout of voters. The Prime Minister said caretaker government would support Election Commission to conduct free, fair and transparent elections.
He said the government had strictly prohibited the use of public office and funds for political use and had given clear instructions to all provinces to strictly adhere to. The Prime Minister said provincial governments had been directed to facilitate foreign observers and media persons so that they could witness the transparency of polls.
He said the federal government would continue its support to the development of infrastructure in Balochistan especially a strong communication network, which was essential for realising economic potential of the province. The Governor Balochistan briefed the Prime Minister on law and order situation in the province and the steps taken by the provincial government to beef up security, particularly in sensitive places during elections.
