Lower grade employees, workers to get 'Bachat cards'

The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has launched "Bachat Cards" for the poorest of poor across the country.
USC sources told APP that the lowest grade government employees of Basic Pay Scale (BPS) 1-5 and the industrial workers whose salaries are not more than Rs 5000 will be registered in four phases to provide them edible commodities on lower prices.
The data of poorest of the poor is being collected from Pakistan Baitual Mal, Zakat Usher and Kifalat scheme to identify the most deserving people for the scheme, they added.
They added that USC has also a plan to include the senior citizens in the scheme. They further said that the four-phased scheme would be completed by the end of June 30 this year.
Deserving population of both rural and urban areas would benefit from the scheme and they would be provided cards at the nearest stores of the corporation.
The sources added that USC has played an important role in provision of quality items including essential food items to poor segment of the society on cheaper rates especially when country was facing sugar and wheat situation.
