Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat-ul- Ebad Khan, awarded cash prizes to prominent musicians and singers. A simple ceremony to this effect was held at the Governor House here, said an official statement on Sunday.
IT SAID THOSE WHO WERE GIVEN CASH AWARDS WERE: Shazia Khushk, Muhammad Ifrahim, Khalid Umar, Nadeem Jafri, Sanam Marvi and Aftab Ahmed Khan.
Mehdi Hassan could not come to receive his cash award owing to illness and as such his cash award was handed over to his son. Abida Parveen could not come because of her visit abroad.
Sindh Governor said on the occasion that the nation is proud of its artists and that the government would encourage the artists at every level. He pointed out that measures have been taken for the promotion of art and culture and for the betterment and welfare of artists as well as legends in every field. Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism, Ms. Ambar Raza Nensey, and other officials were also present on the occasion.
