Shah Bhitai's Urs on February 22

The arrangements for three-day-long 264th Annual Urs of great Sufi saint and poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai (R.A) to be celebrated with traditional zeal, enthusiasm and in a befitting manner, were finalised at a meeting presided by Sindh Secretary for Culture and Tourism Shams Jafrani here on Friday.
Secretary culture and tourism speaking on the occasion said the Urs celebrations would commence from February 22, with the laying of floral wreaths at the Mazar of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.
To facilitate the devotees at the Mazar, he said a committee headed by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Matiari has been formed with representation of all concerned departments so that the devotees should not face any difficulty during the Urs celebrations.
Shams Jafrani while highlighting the arrangements said the officers of irrigation department have started releasing water in the historic Karar Lake while necessary repair and renovation in and outside the Mazar have also been completed. He said the organising of three-day-long agro-industrial exhibition, traditional Sindhi games malakhra, horse and cattle show, horse riding and musical concerts would be part of the Urs celebrations.
