Sheikh Rasheed sees hung parliament

19 Feb, 2008

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, former railway minister and PML-Q candidate from NA-55 and 56, has predicted a hung parliament saying that no political party will get absolute majority resulting in very short-term government.
"I am seeing the PML-Q at second number with 70 NA seats after PPP having about 85 and PML-N on third number with 35 to 45 seats and MQM with 18 seats," Rashid said while talking to reporters at Lal Haveli on Monday, after polling in Rawalpindi ended.
He said the new government would be a coalition one based on PPP, PML-Q, MQM, JUI-F and ANP. But, he predicted that this government would not last long and the country would see fresh polls shortly. Rashid told reporters he braved three suicide attempts.
