19 Feb, 2008

Police on Monday arrested Ferozdin Kalhoro, a polling officer at polling station no 14, in Constituency NA-206, Old Larkana-4, set up in Iqra Primary School, Qambar, on the order of District Returning Officer (DRO), Imdad Hussain Khoso, following recovery of two ballot papers and the seal from his pocket.
The DRO took the action after complaints by polling agents of PPP candidate, Mir Nadir Ali Magsi who informed that he had torn away two ballot papers from the book of another polling officer who had gone out to a wash room. The polling officer admitted to police that he did commit this mistake and be pardoned.
Later DCO Qambar-Shahdadkot, Saleem Raza Khuhro and DPO Agha Tahir also arrived there. The Presiding Officer Dr Manzoor Deepar was also suspended and taken into custody on the order of DRO who also ordered an inquiry against him. The DRO told journalists that the presiding officer was also warned in the morning on mismanagement and low polling process.
