Two MQM-backed businessmen elected to NA

Out of five businessmen, who were contesting for the National Assembly seat, only two businessmen were elected in February 18 elections. Of the five businessman- Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Captain Halim Siddiqui, Khwaja Sohail Mansoor, Abdul Rasheed Godil, Iftikhar Hussain - Muttahida Qaumi Movement-backed candidates, Khwaja Sohail Mansor and Abdul Rasheed Godil were elected.
Khwaja Sohail Mansor, elected from NA 240, is a prominent businessman and former member of the managing committee of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and Site Association on Industry (SAI). Abdul Rasheed Godil, elected from NA 252, a businessman associated with real estate, import and export business.
Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, former Chairman of Site Association of Industry (Sai) and a candidate of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Captain Halim Siddiqui, a prominent businessman and an independent candidate, from NA 250 also lost to MQM's Khushbakhat Shuja'at. Iftikhar Hussain, another businessmen and contesting election as independent candidate from NA 239, also lost the seat Sardar Abdul Rahim contesting for provincial assembly seat from PA 114 also lost.
