Unchecked visa policy is giving safe passage to international drug smugglers to use Pakistan as a transit country to smuggle narcotics to Europe, America, Middle East and Far East, said Brigadier Asif Alvi, Regional Director of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), Rawalpindi here on Thursday.
He was briefing newsmen about the recent operations of the ANF in which they arrested 11 drug pushers including three international smugglers and recovered 11 kilograms of heroin and 5-kg of charas.
"We have time and again raised the issue of visa policy with the government but received no response in this regard", Brigadier Alvi said. He said that the world is facing law and order situation and terrorism has caused threat to global peace and harmony.
Drug smugglers have direct links with terrorist networks all over the world and they are providing money to these networks, he said. He said that huge money is involved in drug trade and these criminals are providing money to terrorists to secure their business by creating unrest.
