Anwar Kamal of professional group to contest LHCBA polls as president

Former Supreme Court Bar Association president Hamid Khan has announced Anwar Kamal as the presidential candidate of the Professional Group (PG) in the elections of the Lahore High Court Bar Association, to be held on February 23.
He told a press conference also attended by Jinnah Lawyers' Forum Chairman Muhammad Islam, Karamat Ali and Waseem Aftab Sheikh. "Our demand is the restoration of the judiciary and the resignation of Musharraf.
The lawyers' protest was turned into a nation-wide movement in which civil society members, retired army officers, representatives of traders and political parties played their role for the restoration of democracy and judiciary," he said.
He said political parties had won the elections on the slogan of the restoration of democracy and now they full fill their promise with the people of Pakistan by restoring the judges because without the independent judiciary the supremacy of the rule of law would not be possible. Islam also announced their support for the candidate of the Professional Group Anwar Kamal in the elections of Lahore High Court Bar Association.
He also said that lawyer's movement would continue till the restoration of judiciary and the ouster of Musharraf from the government and all the lawyers of the country are united in the struggle of the rule of law.
