At least three lawyers were injured while 13 others arrested during their protest in the premises of City Court on Thursday. The lawyers were staging demonstration for the restoration of the deposed chief justice, Iftikhar Chaudhry and more than 60 other judges of Supreme Court and High Courts who were ousted after the proclamation of emergency on November 16, 2007.
The police baton charged the lawyers when they tried to come out from the city court's premises and arrested 13 of them. The detainees include Naeem Qureshi, the Secretary of Karachi Bar Association, Saeed Qureshi, Raja Arif, Waheed Baloch, Tahir Akbar Khan, Munsif Jan, Riaz Afandi, Tahir Rehman, Syed Muhammad Zia, Syed Hussain, Syed Fateh Ali, Jahangir Rango and Anwar.
Scuffle was also witnessed between the police and the lawyers leaving three of the lawyers injured who were identified as Ghulam Nabi Maksi, Ahsan Ali Rand and Pervaiz. The FIR has been registered at the Risala Police Station against the detainees and many other lawyers.
