Punjab government has issued 90.5 million rupees funds for the completion of canal's bricklining project in district Gujranwala with the instruction that this project must be completed in the current fiscal year.
Assistant Agricultural Engineer Hafiz Ateeq Allah said while talking to newsmen here on Saturday. The official said that in Tehsil Nowsheran Virkan 12 canals would be brick-lined, 12 in Kamoke, 43 in Wazirabad, and 40 in Tehsil Saddar Gujranwala.
"Rupees 700,000 will be spent on one canal's lining, while each of these canals has average length of about 10 kilometres." A total of 94.5 million rupees will be spent on this project the completion of which would help prevent water losses, theft and feuds.
