'Sports play vital role in practical life'

Sports play an important role in practical life to get a progressive mind and healthy body while one could learn from player's sportsman spirit and discipline to have a successful life.
Punjab University Institute of Chemistry Director and Teaching Department Sports Association President Professor Dr Jamil Anwar Chaudhry said this while addressing the 112th Annual Inter-collegiate Athletics Championship prize distribution ceremony, here on Saturday.
Jamil said that Punjab University had produced a number of personalities in the sports field who earned fame for the country and varsity. He also announced Rs 100,000/- scholarships for top 10 position holders of the championship. He also announced sports equipment for top five colleges, which would perform well in academic and extra curricular activities.
In the championship, Punjab College of Commerce got first position, Ikhwan Science College Burki second and Punjab University Teaching Department & Islamia College Civil Lines jointly got third position in the championship. Mohammad Shahid of Islamia College Civil Lines was declared the best athlete of the championship.
