MQM ready to support PPP unconditionally

01 Mar, 2008

The Chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain has said that MQM is ready for unconditional support to Pakistan Peoples Party, but the PPP should ensure the continuation of development work of the district governments in Karachi and Hyderabad.
The MQM fully desired to make Sindh province prosperous and the party would extend its full support to PPP on issues of provincial autonomy and NFC Award, Altaf Hussain assured this in his telephonic address to the meeting of MQM Women Wing here at Pacca Qilla Ground on Friday evening.
He however, said that if the mandate of MQM would not accepted, then party leadership would make its own decisions freely. If MQM sit in opposition benches, it would ensure healthy criticism, he added. The MQM Chief warned the Co-Chairperson PPP Asif Ali Zardari to be aware of the politics of Mian Nawaz Sharif as Sharif brothers always tried to gain personal interests.
While criticising the politics of Mian Nawaz Sharif and Mian Shahbaz Sharif, he said that they earlier committed with the government to leave the country for ten years and later denied of any agreement in this respect.
They also played with the Charter of Democracy, which was also signed by the slain PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto, he added that Charter of Democracy clearly stated that only those judges would be reinstated who refused to take oath under PCO, but the elected assembly members have violated the Charter of Democracy by taking oath of the reinstatement of those judges who took oath under PCO.
Sharif brothers are forcing the reinstatement of those judges including Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Choudhry, who took oath under PCO, Altaf Hussain said and added that MQM would only support those judges, who never taken oath under PCO in the past. He called upon the co-Chairperson PPP Asif Ali Zardari to be careful from the politics of PML (N) and took decisions for the larger interests of the country.
