CDGK to install 20 pedestrian bridges

The City District Government Karachi (CDGK), on a directive of the City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal has started the construction work of pedestrian bridges and modern bus stops in different parts of Karachi.
As per the project six bridges have been installed at signal-free Corridor-I, that have greatly facilitated the people in crossing the roads. Besides, 22 beautiful waiting rooms are also being constructed on BOT basis at bus stops at signal-free corridors and other locations and so far, 10 of them have been completed.
These are at Baloch Hotel, Gharibabad, Sharifabad, Liaquatabad No 4 and Habib Rehimtullah Road Karsaz at Corridor-I besides Essa Nagri. Aside from Signal-free Corridor-I, 14 pedestrian bridges are also being constructed at various locations and installation work of such bridges at Board Office Chowrangi, Golden Gate, Shadman Town No 1, Shaheed-e-Millat Road near Bohri Masjid was completed during the last two months.
Work on two more bridges at University Road near Town Office and Edhi Centre near Faizan-e-Madina, Old Sabzi Mandi is in progress. Earlier, three bridges had been installed at various points in Nazimabad. This has greatly helped overcoming the problems that people were facing in road crossing because of fast moving traffic.
The locations selected by the CDGK's Transport and Communication Department include Iqbal Plaza Road-5000, Shah Waliullah Road near Subhanullah Pakwan, Bufffer Zone, Shah Waliullah Road near Power House and near Edhi Centre Sohrab Goth, Rashid Minhas Road near Abul Hasan Imambargah.
Rest of the locations are said to be near some known spots like Saghir Centre, Centre Apartments, Afroz Medical Centre, near Evershine Flats, Aallahdi Park, Mushtaq Baradari, Honda Showroom, Askari-IV, Army Public School, Pir Sibghatullah Shah/ Stadium Road near Millennium Mall, Jauhar Road near Harmain Tower, near TO, Clinic and Allama Shabbir Ahmed Usmani Road, New Port Institute and Bahzad Lakhnavi Road near Haroon Shopping Emporium.
