Japan Overseas Co-operation Volunteers (JOCV) will send trained volunteers to bring about a qualitative improvement in the social sector with special emphasis on disabled persons. Muhammad Arshad Abbasi, Assistant Programme officer, JOCV said this during his visit to Sir Syed Special Education Complex (SSSEC) here.
He said that Japanese volunteers would visit Pakistan for short duration to serve in the social sector. About SSSEC, he said that volunteers trained to work with children with different deformities would be preferred for SSSEC. He further said that his visit is of preliminary nature. However, another team from Japan would visit Pakistan soon to finalise arrangements with allocation of fields to the Japanese volunteers.
Dr Abdul Majeed in charge SSSEC said that more than 350 students are enrolled in different specialities in this complex. Government is providing financial assistance while local philanthropists are also contributing generously to provide best possible facilities to the special children. He said that hostel facility is also offered to the needy children belonging to far-flung rural or peripheral areas. Local philanthropists are bearing the entire expenditures of their food and education, he added.
