Musharraf created turmoil with US dictated policies: Nawaz

03 Mar, 2008

Nawaz Sharif has said that President Pervez Musharraf has acted on US policies in the last eight years and created turmoil and lawlessness in the country rather than providing relief to the citizens of Pakistan.
"No compromise would be made on the blasphemy (the sacredness of holy Prophet peace be upon him) and the protection of the 'Namoos-e-Risaalat' is the basic duty of every Muslim. One who doesn't have respect for the Prophet (PBUH) can not be called a Muslim," he said. "Strict action should be taken against the cartoonist who published caricatures of the Holy Prophet in Denmark," he said.
Addressing a seminar here on Sunday at Jamia Naeemia, he said that Pakistan could get rid of America's slavery by following the principle of national dignity.
He said that the Chaudhris were saying that Nawaz would not return home but he came back and was now playing a pivotal role in the national politics, whereas the nation has rejected the Chauhdris, he said. He said that on February 18 people got into the vehicles of the PML (Q), but voted in favour of his party.
He said that tremendous success of PML-N was the outcome of his workers' sincere efforts and "we will continue our struggle for the service of the nation, welfare of the workers and the restoration of democracy."
He said that one should not be proud and must have fear of God in his heart. Almighty Allah doesn't like pride as "pride hath a fall," he remarked. "Rulers of Punjab supported Pervez Musharraf who broke the law, the Constitution, arrested the honourable judges of the Supreme Court, sabotaged the supremacy of the Parliament, and even stopped the drinking water to the detailed judges and Dr A Q Khan on the dictation of America. He said that Pervez Musharraf defamed Pakistan Army, devastated the national institutions and promoted lawlessness.
He said that in the recent election, the political parties showed maturity, adding that Pakistan People's Party appeared as the major political party and "we accepted it with open heart and invited them to form government in the Centre." In Punjab, Pakistan People's Party would support the PML-N, he added.
Nawaz said that Anti Terrorist Court (ATC) had released Shabaz Sharif in the Sabzazar police encounter case, which was bogus and baseless and made on the order of Pervez Musharraf and Pervaiz Elahi. "But by the grace of God the liars had to face defeat and truthfulness succeeded." He said that Shabaz would contest the by-election and continue his service for the betterment of the people.
