Kamal visits under construction projects

City Nazim Karachi, Syed Mustafa Kamal has directed the Works and Services department to further speed up the work on development projects particularly complete the under-construction bridges, flyovers and roads immediately so that transport problems are lessened to maximum.
He stated this during a 5 and a half over visit inspection visit of under-construction schemes on Sunday night. EDO Works, Project Directors of various schemes, officials of works and services department, contractors and representatives of consultant firms were also present on the occasion.
Nazim said that City Government has not only reconstructed the old roads but also constructed dozens of new roads and opened closed roads for traffic. He referred to construction of two roads - one for populations of Gulshan-e-Maymar and Ahsanabad upto Saba Cinema on one side and to link Surjani on the other.
He said to link these areas with Surjani directly, a bridge is being is being constructed on Lyari river at a cost of Rs120 million which will be completed in 1.5 month and opened for traffic.
Mustafa Kamal further said that Manghopir road has been directly connected with Super Highway and now the travelling of hours would be covered in minutes.
He said that construction of these new roads would reduce traffic congestion in the city. Nazim Karachi said that City Government solved the transport problem to a great extent by promoting the concept of signal-free corridors.
He said work on signal-free Corridor-III will be taken in hand this year and completed during the year. He said Corridor-III will stretch from Saddar to Safoora Goth and constructed through Saddar Dawakhana, Lines Area and Preedy street and connected with new M.A. Jinnah Road at Mazar-e-Quaid.
