The NWFP government on Tuesday appointed senior banker Bilal Mustafa as new Managing Director of the Bank of Khyber (BoK) for a three-year term, said a notification of NWFP Department of Finance issued.
The post of the BoK Managing Director was lying vacant since October 2007 after the resignation of Syed Iqbal Ashraf. In the absence of the full time head, Senior Executive President Qazi Munir-ul-Haq was running the affairs of the bank. Bank of Khyber is a provincial public sector bank established under Bank of Khyber Act, 1991.
Bilal Mustafa will be the seventh Managing Director of the bank. In past, except for founding Managing Director Bashir Ahmad, who was both Chairman and Managing Director, none of the head had completed his tenure. The selection of Bilal Mustafa was made by a special committee, constituted by the caretaker government from among the eight shortlisted candidates. Bilal Mustafa is a senior banker and had served on a number of important positions in Allied Bank Limited.
