DIG Prisons investigating Multan jail break incident

DIG Prisons Lahore, Abdus Sattar Aajiz, has arrived in Multan and is investigating the jail break incident in which seven under-trial prisoners involved in heinous crimes, had escaped from district jail Multan on Sunday night.
Prisons department officials told APP on Tuesday that DIG Prisons South Punjab, Farooq Nazir is assisting the visiting official in the investigations. Two of the seven fugitives were arrested by the police while fleeing that night, whereas the remaining five were still at large. Several police teams had been constituted to nab the runaway criminals.
Prisons officials said that a total of nine district jail officials have been suspended in the jail break incident- jail superintendent Malik Murtaza Shamim, deputy superintendent Muhammad Arshad, two assistant superintendents Farhan Naqvi and Arshad Ahmed, head jail warder Abdur Rashid, warders Muhammad Iqbal, Akhtar Abbas, Shah Jahan and Rahmatullah. Officials said that the jail officials' possible collusion with the fugitives is also being investigated.
