Multan jail top officials replaced

The Punjab Government posted Muhammad Anjum Shah as Superintendent and Riaz Ahmed Khan of Deputy Superintendent, Prisons, Multan on Wednesday while Superintendent Murtaza Shamim and eight others were suspended and taken into custody for investigation.
An inquiry committee, headed by Abdul Sattar Aajiz, is investigating the flight of seven alleged killers, involved in a political murder case of Khizar Hayat Turo, a right hand man Fakhar Imam, escaped from District Jail, Multan at 0230 hours on Monday.
However, police arrested two of them while another five managed to runaway, and they are still at large. Inspector General of Police Punjab has asked the police to arrest them immediately so that they may not harm their political opponents. Authorities said.
"These jail birds were involved in a political murder case of Khizar Hayat Turo of Khanewal. DIG (Prisons) said that seven accused of murder case Muhammad Rafiq, Sajjad, Mumtaz, Kabir Ahmed, Dost Muhammad , Nazir Ahmed and Altaf Ahmed broke the western wall of latrine of barrack No 7, then they ran away.
The Police was informed immediately. Police arrested Nazir and Rafiq. Then Nazir injured a warder Asghar Ali. SSP (Operation) Muhammad Nawaz Waraich said: "We have sent a police team after the culprits to arrest them and ordered an inquiry into the Jail break and escape of seven alleged killers.
Their case is still under trial in Sessions court and Raza Hayat Hiraj is also involved in this case. Home Secretary has suspended the services of Jail Superintendent Murtaza Shamim and served him and Assistant Superintendent with show cause notices.
